Shelly Hollen majored in Fine Art at the University of Texas where she also discovered her passion for dogs, horses and the southwest desert.
Along the way, she also developed a character named Merle, who appears in each issue of the Aussie Times magazine. Merle is an Australian Shepherd with a barnyard of friends to keep her entertained.

Shelly has devoted many years to her chosen field of art, working from commissioned paintings to illustrations for books and magazines. She works in several mediums, including oils, pastels, watercolor, acrylic, graphite, ink and digital. Advanced study in color theory as well as attention to detail are her noteable characteristics. Shelly is accepting commissions for fine art paintings of all kinds.
